The Bazooka is a rocket launcher featured in Hell Let Loose.

This weapon fires an explosive armor-piercing projectile that is effective against enemy vehicles, certain structures, and infantry.

Players with the launcher are equipped with two rockets. This weapon can be resupplied using an explosive-ammo box. If resupplied, the player can carry a total of three rockets at one time.

Behavior[]

The best chance for the projectile to penetrate armor is when the projectile's trajectory is perpendicular with the target's surface. If the impact angle is too steep, the rocket may even ricochet. If a ricochet occurs, no damage will be dealt to the vehicle. Thus, it is best to aim for a surface that is perpendicular to you. A loud metallic whine will be audible to the player if their projectile ricochets.[1]

The rocket can also explode without penetration if the armor is too thick or the impact angle too steep. Like a ricochet, this will result in no damage dealt. A special sound effect is played for the player shooting the rocket if it penetrates and deals damage to a vehicle (same sound that tankers hear when damaging other vehicles).[2] This can help distinguish between rockets that penetrate and rockets that do not.

When compared to its German counterpart, the Panzerschreck, the Bazooka has increased velocity and decreased penetration. The penetration and damage of the Bazooka is equivalent to that of the American M5A1 Stuart.[3]

Bazooka Rockets Required to Destroy German Tanks
Puma Luchs Panzer IV Tiger Panther
Front 1 R R R R
Side 1 2 R R R
Rear 1 2 2 3 3
Turret 2 3* R R R
Tracks 4 8 2 3 3

R - Ricochet or non-penetrating shot.

* - The turret of the Luchs cannot be penetrated from the front.

Yellow box - The Bazooka is unable to destroy these vehicles when hitting the tracks. The number shown is the number of hits needed to disable the module.

As shown above, the best way to destroy a vehicle is hit it in its rear plate. In fact, the Panzer IV, Tiger, and Panther cannot be destroyed by the Bazooka from anywhere but the rear.

Hitting a vehicle's tracks/wheels is usually not an effective way of destroying vehicles. However, vehicles with broken tracks are limited to first gear or reverse gear.

Targeting the turret is also not an effective way of destroying armored vehicles. Disabling the turret will disable the gunner's machine gun and limit their traverse speed. The main gun and hull MG will still be active. Hitting the barrel of the turret will not deal damage to the module.

The engine can only be damaged by hitting the rear plate of a tank, which will also do the greatest damage to the hull. So, coincidently, targeting the engine is an effective way to destroy a tank. Tanks cannot move when their engine is disabled.

Trucks can be destroyed with one rocket if it hits the engine compartment.
