Hell Let Loose Wiki

Hürtgen Forest is a map featured in Hell Let Loose.

Set during the Battle of Hürtgen Forest, the series of fierce battles which fought from 19 September 1944 to 10 February 1945, between American and German forces in the Hürtgen Forest, on east of the Belgian–German border.

As the name suggests, this map is mostly fought in a forest. This map previously was more of a forest, but for gameplay, it was changed to be more open with a scorched forest look. This map is an infantry-focused map, but armor used correctly can be a game-changer.

The map has two areas where vehicles can cross the river and that is at North Pass and The Siegfried line. That means it is important to mine these areas, but also means tanks and vehicles need to look out for mines. The "bridge" above The Scar is deceiving because that bridge is destroyed.

If you choose to use armor on this map, stay near friendly infantry and be sure you know how to drive well, the forests and limited roads for moving vehicles make this one of the hardest maps to play as a tank. Inexperienced drivers should always stay on the roads as they are likely to get stuck in the forest.

Tips for driving in forests: GO SLOW. Almost never go to max speed in the forest, maintain a speed where you can navigate easily through the trees. You will need to do this to sneak up into unsuspecting places to get a jump on enemy armor, if you go down the road and the other tank knows what he is doing, you will take first damage. You should practice this on an empty server if you want to get better.

Tips for playing infantry: To survive in the forests, it is essential that you see the enemy first. This means you must stay low, go slow, and never run when near enemies. It can be very challenging to see enemies in the forests, even for experienced players. It is wise to use headphones so you can hear the enemy, that is how you will find him. Otherwise, with experience, you can tell where the enemy is because you learn what an empty bush looks like vs what one with an enemy looks like. Most of the time, you simply have to wait for the enemy to shoot and then find him.
