The M97 Trench Gun is an American shotgun used by the United States Army in Hell Let Loose.
The M97 Trench Gun is available to the U.S. Assault Level III loadout (Veteran) and the Engineer Level III (Sapper) loadout. It is a pump-action shotgun with a 6-round tubular magazine. It fires several buckshot pellets which spread out in a circular pattern. The spread limits this weapon's effectiveness at long range, however, if one pellet is a headshot, it will still be able to kill in 1 hit at any distance. This shotgun was manufactured as the Winchester Model 1897, designed by John Browning.
Unlike all other infantry firearms in the game, the M97 Trench Gun has the unique ability to gib (dismember) enemy infantry at close range. This prevents them from being revived by a Medic after being killed, similar to killing an enemy with a headshot or explosion.
